It had been nearly a decade since we have been overseas. Despite loving to travel, life complications have seemed insurmountable. Work, school, global pandemic, dog, etc… However, Vix had expressed interest in attending a German language camp over the Summer and that became the impetus for us all to renew those passports, pack up, and fly to Europe for a family vacation!
Lessons:
- International Plans on smart phones is gold
- Waze and Google maps work great
- Chip cards make everything super smooth (even though US credit cards don’t have PINs)
- Google Translate is a life saver
The Summer of the Aperol Spritz! Not sure if this is new to this summer, or has been going on for a while (the Aperol Spritz was the drink of summer 2020 in Los Angeles, while everyone was quarantining), but the market blitz of Aperol was EVERYWHERE during our travels. I wish I took more photos of this phenomenon, because the few shown below is a small fraction, from small cafes in Slovania to the Frankfurt International airport terminals, everywhere we went served and advertised Aperol Spritz. I drank half a dozen or so along our journey. Doing my part.
